Daniel Lake firstname.lastname@example.org Dan is a juried artist member of the Wickford Art Association and the South County Art Association, who lives in East Greenwich, Rhode Island.
Dan joined the Rhode Island community of artists in 2010 by attending Open Studio hours at the Wickford Art Association’s gallery.Since that time he has created numerous impressionist oils featuring Rhode Island images, as well as portrait works. He has displayed his work in various Rhode Island venues during 2011-2015
Dan's work was influenced by Wassily Sommer, an Alaskan artist/teacher with whom he worked for 10 years in Anchorage, Alaska. From Wassily he learned and uses a classical technique which involves under-painting with earth tones (usually umber or burnt sienna) to set composition and values, then over-painting with oils both opaque and transparent.
His use of color was also influenced by a short period of work with artists Sergei Bongart, Ron Lukas, and Del Gish, a group who held summer workshops in Rexburg, Idaho.
